Gone but not Forgotten

gone but not forgotten
near yet miles apart
your memories still hold
a place within my heart

we had but a moment
to share the things we could
til we went our separate ways
and all alone we stood

I look back now with wonder
and hear the words you say
and feel the touch that pleasured us
throughout that magic day

oft I wish we'd had more time
to spend within that world
but fate gave us a single day
to see just what unfurled

but we both know that fate unkind
has decreed that we be friends
instead of lovers side by side
sharing til time ends

so now your living miles away
unreachable to me
and I live here alone again
just words that you can see

one magic day was all we had
but it lives on with time
remembered all too frequently
kept in this heart of mine..

gone but not forgotten
a friend you'll always be
loved and treasured every day
you're now a part of me....
