Those Who Touch Our Soul

Every now and then, someone crosses our path, who brings us joy, in the simple things they do. It may be the checker in the grocery store who smiles from the soul, as they give back our change. Or the small child who sits on that mechanical toy outside the store, laughing and begging for one more quarter to ride it again.
We see what we need to see, at the very moment we need it. The Powers that be provide to our needs.

I think the saddest comment is that, even though it is there, we find ways to not see.  We find ways to avoid the answers to what it is we truly seek from life around us.

We run our lives like a corporation. We schedule time to be with our loved ones, make appointments to be intimate with our mates. We see everything as a loss or gain, we check fiscal reports when it's time to vacation. Meals are done on the run, or standing at the breakfast bar. To have a sit down dinner with the entire family, another appointment must be made. Schedules checked and rechecked.
How sad that even in the hustle and bustle of our everyday lives, we cannot see what is right in front of us.

The mechanic who changes our oil, the bank teller who begrudgingly hands us our money, the person in the car next to us on the freeway ... each of us are interconnected. We can learn from each other, we can teach each other. We need each other to feel complete ... to be complete.

The inter-dynamics of interaction; the way we deal with ourselves and each other cannot be bred into us, it must be learned experientially, and in doing so ... we have to engage each other 'In' life!

To do this, we must slow down long enough to see that smile from the clerk, to hear the laughter of a child, to really thank the mechanic for the job he did, to brighten the day of that grumpy bank teller, to acknowledge the driver in the car next to us.

To validate that we are all living, breathing, vital beings ... who feel and think and bleed when cut. Who need love and understanding, compassion and joy ... who just need to be touched by someone passing through their lives.

It only takes a brief moment out of our day.
Is that too much to ask?

Embrace life and in doing so ... You embrace yourself.
