"Dragon's Feast"

(an excerpt)

When darkness overtakes me
and the light about me fades
I find I light the candles
and bid them all to stay

Setting bright the table
whispering to the night
"Come feast on heart and soul of me
sanity ... take flight"

The banquet table is aglow
with all the Dragon's fire
Claws and talons tear at me
to serve is my desire

I humbly sit and take the pain
blood runs from my own brow
My banquet table is prepared
I am theirs ... to be devoured

From high above I hear the scream
the White Dragon soars
His light obliterates the room
I crumple to the floor

In fear I sit and tremble
he reaches for my hands
I cower in my fear and shame
while over me he stands

"Stand tall and fight"
he calls to me
"Or give in to the past
The time has come for you to choose
the die is not yet cast"

I look upon his fearful form
his beauty blinds my eye
I reach to touch the scaly face
and I realize ...  he cries.
